Bushfire season is here.

The fires that are currently burning through Fraser Island in Queensland are a wake up call to remind us that bushfire season is here. Just a few hot, dry days can turn the beautiful bushland into a tinderbox, ready to become a raging inferno with just one spark.

Living in Australia, we have all seen the news stories of people who have escaped a bushfire just in time with only the clothes on their back. They often don’t know yet if their house is still standing. That’s the thing with bushfires, they are unpredictable. When you live in areas surrounded by bushland the only thing that you know for certain is that you must prepare, but even the best prepared homes can burn to the ground.

A hotter summer.

Bushfire season in Victoria usually runs from November to March or April. The latest reports from the Bureau Of Meteorology say that we will have a hot summer with higher than average temperatures across Victoria. There are a many steps involved in preparing for bushfire season. (Information on how to prepare can be found on the CFA website) One thing you can do now is rent a storage locker for your precious and important items like photos, passports, and certificates.
