Snow Or No?
With winter well and truly upon us, the temperature gauge has headed south over the last few weeks, and although there’s been some good rain for the farmers, it’s also meant for some chilly times all round. The time has begun to set your arms to hibernation mode, as you say good bye to t-shirts and say hello to plenty of thick woollen jumpers and jackets over the next few months.
Along with the drop in mercury comes the best thing about the winter months – snow! With snow already starting to layer the mountain peaks of Victoria’s high country, Bulla, Hotham and Fall’s Creek are all beginning their own preparations for the impending ski season.
Chalets and on-mountain villas are fast filling up and surrounding townships are beginning to see the first signs of the tourist trade amble on through and start to fill the towns.
For those not so keen on the snow and alps, this time of year also serves as the perfect opportunity to pack up and head away for a sun chaser holiday. Even though Melbourne’s temperature is dropping, further north around the globe, temperatures are rising and beautiful sunny days are waiting in places further afield.
Queensland, Bali and other parts of Asia are popular vacation spots this time of year, as too are long-haul flight destinations such as the US and Europe. Festivals are hugely popular over the Northern Hemisphere summer months too. Massive events like Glastonbury in the UK and other around Europe are often inspiration for making the big trip overseas in the first place.
So, if you do decide to head away over winter, make sure that your important goods are well looked after and kept safe. If you don’t have adequate security or a guard dog for your property, consider leaving your valuable items in self-storage. With A-grade security and 24-hour camera surveillance at all our sites, as well as additional security measures, Fork Knox has units of all sizes to accommodate the smallest to the largest collection of items.
