Self Storage Association of Australasia Conference 2016
Fort Knox Self Storage are proud members and supporters of the Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA). Each year the SSAA holds a conference, and as members we were fortunate to receive an invitation and have three representatives from Fort Knox attend. This year the convention was officially opened by SSAA Chairman and Fort Knox General Manager Guy Wilson in the stunning ballroom of the Grand Hyatt hotel in Melbourne.
With over 200 self-storage operators, owners and managers, numerous suppliers and industry partners this event is one not to be missed. While there were many local members we were privileged to have delegates join us from all over Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Europe.
Here are Fort Knox Self Storage we are committed to the growth and development of our team and business. Fort Knox prides itself of investing in resources internally, however we are continuously aiming to learn about the latest technology, and methodology that the wider self-storage industry has developed.
Attending conferences such as the SSAA, participating in workshops and training seminars ensures that at Fort Knox we continue to widen our ideologies, challenge and push ourselves to ensure we are delivering the very best service in the industry towards our customers and stores.
Whilst there is only so much information that you can learn about a storage unit, events such as the SSAA conference allows us to engage with fabulous speakers and trainers out of the industry. Some of the great speakers this year included Michelle Stanton ‘How Winners Become Champions, Holly Ransom ‘Leading Intergenerational Change’ and our personal favourite Nadine Champion ‘Succeeding Despite Doubt, Fear and Pain’. Not only did these three amazing women deliver some great business advice, they shared their personal stories about the raw emotional struggles they endured and the fight to survive when the odds were against them. These stories encourage us to be stronger people by gaining inner strength and continuously improving and developing.
A facility tour was arranged for all delegates and Fort Knox was proud have been asked to showcase our brand new state of the art facility at Keysborough. Boasting 12,500m2 site with 6,500m2 of self storage and a 8 unit warehouse development, due to commence early next year, this site incorporates all the latest in security, access and construction.
As all good things come to an end so did our three-day conference. Once again we got to catch up with old acquaintances, meet some new faces, and we look forward to strengthen the relationships we have fostered in our unique industry.
